Our Focus on the Liberal Arts
Palm Institute offers academic programs that incorporate critical and analytical thinking, writing and effective communication courses into our interactive liberal arts curriculum. We encourage our students to question assumptions, theories, models and concepts presented in our lecture halls. Our curriculum is designed to enable faculty and students work collaboratively to close the gap between theory and practice. Our liberal arts core curriculum courses include: African studies, critical thinking, modern English and expository writing, introduction to economics (microeconomics and macroeconomics), introduction to accounting, introduction to finance, leadership studies and management studies, introduction to sociology, introduction to psychology and entrepreneurship.
Our Approach to Academics
Our academic programs are designed to develop our students to be locally and globally competitive in their chosen industry. The Institute currently offers comprehensive and practical two year diploma programs in Business Administration, Banking Technology & Accounting and Computerized Accounting with a liberal arts approach.
Palm Institute incorporates compulsory internships into our teaching and learning processes. Our internship programs are designed to provide hands-on experiences for our students to facilitate our quest to close the gap between theory and practice. All students are required to complete a period of internship with a recognized corporation/company in Ghana prior to graduation.
We currently have 60 committed and dedicated students enrolled in our five two-year degree (diploma) programs.
Palm Institute courses are taught by accomplished faculty with relevant industry experience in Ghana and the United States. Lectures are organized and taught with contextualized case-studies and relevant texts that recognize the unique values and culture of Ghana and Africa with a global emphasis. Our non-traditional hands-on and applied approach to professional and academic development enables our students to excel in their chosen fields. We have seven adjunct and full-time faculty members and four administrative staff. Our faculty and staff were trained in Ghana and the United States.
